Day 7
Here we find ourselves at The Kingsley on day 7,and we are as upbeat as one can be under the circumstances. Some fabulous blog comments are put up daily and all are very welcome. So nice to see that one blog comment is from an American couple in Nashville, Tennessee, Kelly and Bill Christie, who were hoping to spend their Thanksgiving holiday with us,and instead of going elsewhere are waiting for us to reopen.... thank you both for this! I have had a great deal of discussions with many of our loyal customers and some of our very loyal overseas agents and all have agreed to continue the relationship with The Kingsley Hotel and on the short term are willing to relocate their clients . The staff are working very hard in getting the place cleaned out; all the damaged flooring and destroyed carpets etc.The drying-out process has begun and the place is being sanitised. FormWorks from Waterfall have all traces of water pumped out from all locations and have resurrected the underground car park to its former self. The Hotel's General Manager, who played a vital role on the night has asked me to publicly thank these lads from Waterfall for their offer of help that night and the following day without taking a break!!! We hope to have a much clearer picture on a proposed reopening time-frame by mid next week when all bill of works will be complete. We relocated the last of our Residence Guests yesterday who really have made The Kingsley Residences their home, and we are extremely conscience that this is a huge upset for them. Tina and Nuala put a lot of work and effort in to ensuring they are comfortable while in their temporary accommodation, a proper Aggie and Kim! and available for all tough cleaning jobs!!!!Thanks again to Paula and all the team at Jury's Hotel, you are so helpful.
Anne, Aoife, Julie, Noreen, Kay,Susan are all making sure phones are answered and all queries are dealt with and all available assistance is given
Tonnes of emails of gratitude to the staff came over the last few days from those who stayed on the famous night in question.
The Health Club members have been absolutely brilliant and most helpful in offering their support and their time for the clean up. I have had calls from all walks of life offering assistance in terms of labour, transport and storage which is all so much appeciated.
Most of the casual staff have got temporary work from many other hotels throughout Cork and for the others we are continuing to assist in securing work. John O'Meara (Food and Bev) has volunteered his services and his phone number is available to help relocate any staff on a temporary basis 087 2553071
The Kingsley Hotel as a home will be back agus mar a deirtear as gaelige Níl aon tintéan mar do thintéan féin!
