Updates on Hotels Closure
Keeping you updates as promised. The waters were gone back when I arrived at The Hotel today and the aftermath was a very sad sight. The place looked like a run down business which was neglected and left for some time with a great deal of debris strewn everywhere, no visible sign of life and no light. The fountain is still a sight I have never seen and this was the very first day since its birth that The Kingsley Hotel has its doors closed. The County Hall are are working around the clock to bring their building back to some normality, if there such a thing at this time.
We have set up temporary accomodation in our sister Hotel 'The Midleton Park' and all our guests for the next few days have been contacted, and again the reaction is of genuine sympathy, support and goodwill toward the staff and owners. Thank you all again, the support is very much appreciated. Contact today from the Vienna Woods Hotel The Woodlands in Adare, Clontarf Castle, Hanratty Hotels, The Cliff House in Ardmore, as well as many customers of the Hotel who are as upset by the whole scene just as much as we are.
I reside in Bandon and tonight as I made my way back home it was like driving through a ghost town as all the business' many of who are second and third generation family business' are so sadly destroyed some beyond repair, and others,I believe will throw in the towel as to them at this stage in their lives and considering the current climate enough is enough! These 36 hours are like the world has ended and today was a small resurrection. So much devastation caused by angry waters, an incredible force of nature.
Many thanks again today for all the messages of support and help from buisness' all over.
More on Monday evening........................ Slan

Amy Jo BarnesI was so very sad to see the film and videos of the Kingsley under so much water. I had such a great time during my 3 weeks at the Kingsley two years ago. I am hopeful that you will rebuild. My prayers are with all of you. |
Evelyn O'SullivanI was so shocked to hear about the flooding at the lovely Kingsley. My heart went out to you all. Hope everything gets restored to it's former glory as soon as possible. Evelyn. |
Suzanne O'Neill MeaneyAs I watched the 6pm news on RTE on Friday my heart sank into my boots with what I saw the beautiful Kingsley Hotel unrecognisable, my husband was speechless he said its just so sad and my little girl started crying saying we won't be able to stay there when we go to the panto in the Opera House. We stay at the hotel frequently and have been doing so for years since before Holly was born and she is now six years old and its "The Best Hotel in the World" as far as we are concerned. We have no doubt that it will be back to the fine hotel it was and with the dedicated staff it has you are more than half ways there already. Thinking of you and all the staff at this hard time and fingers crossed we will be checking in on the 19th Dec. We couldn't imagine life without a weekend in the Kingsley it's like home away from home. Regards, Paul, Suzanne and Holly Meaney from Waterford |
